Solar Electricity in Roshni Village

Like the rest of Pakistan, the special persons of Roshni Association are also affected by the severe electricity shortage but, being on the outskirts of Lahore, our workshops and the living community, they face even longer hours of power outages. This badly affects the work and the health of our special friends.

Hence, to improve the quality of facilities being provided to the special persons, Roshni Association has installed in its buildings a solar power system of 8kW, with a backup of 2 hours. The system has been installed with funds provided for this project by the local organizations, Punjab Welfare Trust for the Disabled and INFAQ Foundation. The system will be sufficient to provide electricity for using many energy saver bulbs and fans in our workshops and the living community. It will also provide power to the oven of our organic bakery, which primarily runs on natural gas but needs electricity too.

The solar power system will substantially reduce the electricity expenses of our organization, in the long run. Moreover, as Roshni Association also aims to provide a healthy environment for all, having a solar power system here will be another achievement in making Roshni more sustainable.
