My Experience in Roshni

My thirteen years’ service tenure in Roshni has been a unique and most satisfying period of my life. When I think about my previous employments, whether in Pakistan or elsewhere, undoubtedly I have been happiest in this organisation, which is working for a truly noble cause. Here I have learnt a lot about special persons. The daily interaction with them has taught me that instead of being feared or ignored, they are in fact wonderful people who are worthy of our respect and care. They bring out our finer feelings, make us aware of the needs of others and instill in us the spirit of sacrifice. Another enriching experience one gets in Roshni is due to the interaction with numerous overseas volunteers which leads to a better understanding of each others’ cultures and points of view and serves to build bridges between us.

I have seen Roshni grow from a small outt into a well known and an exemplary NGO. The dedication of the pioneers, management and staff members, as well as valuable support by our well wishers, has led to this huge transformation in a relatively short time. I’m glad to have been part of an organisation where everyone is treated with equal respect, whether it is our special friends or whether one is senior or junior, rich or poor. In my view these are the most endearing attributes of Roshni. Although I am retiring, due to my advancing age, I will always remain associated with Roshni Association in its humanitarian work. The time I have spent here has indeed been a most fulfiling and rewarding experience.

Best Wishes! Mr. S. Husain Akhtar, Chief Accountant and Office Support Manager, is retiring after thirteen years. Besides holding these positions, he was Sub-editor of Roshni Newsletters and also a member of our Management Team. Although Mr. Husain will no longer be a regular employee, we will fortunately not lose his services entirely as he plans to visit Roshni once a week to help out in various matters. We pray for his long and healthy life and wish him and his family all the best for the future!
