Exhibition of Paintings by Persons with Special Needs and Normal Children

Roshni Association organized Exhibition of Paintings by Persons with Special Needs and Normal Children in collaboration with Shakir Ali Museum & Pakistan National Council of Arts. This exhibition was a continuation of a fundraising competition “Paint for Roshni 2016”, organized on 2nd February, 2016 at Roshni Association, for both normal and special persons from different institutions of Lahore. The basic aim of the competition and exhibition was to promote the artistic talent of the special persons in Pakistan and to develop an understanding about the needs in our country.
In this competition, the participants were divided into 5 different categories, from A to E, according to their needs and age groups. A total 100 participants took part in the competition, out of which 68 participants were special persons and 32 were normal children. They drew beautiful paintings on the theme of “Water-A Blessing” and “Colours of Inner Beauty”. Special Persons and normal children from Hamza Foundation Academy for the Deaf, Rising Sun Institute, Fountain House, Lahore School of Learning, Assisted Living, Falah Foundation, Charkha Foundation, Living Institute for Slow Learners (University of the Punjab), Green Earth Roshni School and Roshni Association participated in the competition. Ms. Amna I. Pataudi, Director of Shakir Ali Museum - Pakistan National Council of the Arts, and Ms. Rabeya Jalil, Art Educator and Visual Artist, judged the competition and selected 46 best paintings from the competition for display at Shakir Ali Museum. All these paintings were available for sale to support Roshni Association.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Ajaz Anwar, a renowned artist. He is also Director of Art Gallery, National College of Arts and holds a Pride of Performance award. Mr. Jawed Iqbal, a well-known cartoonist, and prominent artists like Masood Kohari and Fakir-u-Sabir also attended the ceremony. The chief guest, the judges, Ms. Amna I. Pataudi, Mr. Muhammad Zahid Durrani (General Secretary, Roshni Association) and Mrs. Nasira Mehmood (Vice-President, Roshni Association) distributed shields and gifts amongst the winning participants. All distinguished guests, teachers and parents appreciated the work of the special persons and wished them well for their future. Certificates were also awarded to all the participants of the art competition. The exhibition at Shakir Ali Museum continued from 7th April to 15th of April, 2016 at Shakir Ali Museum.
