Akhuwat is an organization that provides interest-free loans to poor families to help them become self reliant. They also promote volunteerism in youth through Akhuwat Internship and Leadership Program. The interns of this programme have been visiting Roshni and working with our special persons for last two years. This year on 29th August, the interns arranged a carnival at Roshni Association. This was organized to allow the young interns to interact with the special persons and village children. Besides the special persons of Roshni Village, children and adults with special needs from Fountain House, Falah Foundation, Fukuoka School for Special Children and Charkha Foundation also attended the event. Students and parents of Green Earth Roshni School and Star Academy from Hayr Village also participated in the carnival.
The interns of Akhuwat arranged stalls of dierent games e.g. toss the ball, darts, etc, for which each winner received a small gift. Stalls of mehndi, face painting and nail painting were also set up by the interns. Children had a lot of fun particularly at the jumping castle and merry-go-round. All the guests also enjoyed horse riding, monkey tricks and, most importantly, the magic show.
Such events are important to help special persons improve their social skills and at the same time help raise awareness about their needs and rights among the youth of our country.
